Small farmer organizations and legislators under the Reform CARP Movement (RCM), joined by Ateneo de Manila University Economics Department Director Cielito Habito, held a Press Conference to push for the passage of the CARP extension with reforms. The group stressed that speeding up land distribution will help increase agricultural productivity and rural incomes. At the same time, they explained that banning the conversion of all irrigated and irrigable lands and providing support services to beneficiaries will contribute to the resolution of the rice crisis. The press conference was held on April 21, 2008 at the Sulo Hotel in Quezon City.
